All three of my cats go to Dr. Khan. He is amazing with all of them. Dr. Khan is passionate about caring for animals. He also has great interpersonal skills and has calmed me and put my mind at ease multiple times over the years when my cats were sick or injured. Absolutely recommend this vet and do so on a regular basis.
I've been taking my pets to Lady Hammond Animal Hospital for several years. What I like is that the clinic is easy to access. They are close to my house and I can get an appointment in a reasonable time frame. Unfortunately, I have not been able to accompany my pet into the appointments, as of late. Also, the wait times have been considerable. Staff however is generally competent and friendly. Everything is very straight-forward.
I had so much trouble around cape Breton trying to find a vet for my cat to get a neuter. I had to travel to Halifax to have it done and Lady Hammond animal hospital took him with no problems and fit him in very fast! I’m so thankful because it was so hard to find a vet to take him around cape Breton. They have a great staff and take great care of your pets! My kitty Leo was great and I can’t recommend them enough thank you guys!
I love the vets here - and the newest addition Danielle was GREAT! I loved how she interacted with our pup, AND our kid who also wants to be a vet! She answered any questions she had :) Absolutely amazing care here!
The whole team at this vet is the f’ing best of the best! Kim Peacock is amazing and so knowledgeable. After a long process of delivery my girl could not get her last pup out, she’s a frenchie and if your looking for a vet that is the best in the city with this breed she is your lady! They included me in every decision, they kept me up to date on everything. I seriously could not have asked for better care for my girl and her babies. I felt so comfortable and at home there. I love how chill and fun the environment is. I love their honesty, and their price is the best in the city. Not to mention a vet this amazing is open so early and closes so late. This will forever be my vet for my fur babies. Thank you so much Lady Hammond vet we’re so glad we found you!
I needed to book a vaccination appointment for my dog because it would be overdue by Feb 1, and she wouldn't be able to go to daycare. The best my vet could do was Feb 16 (even though I called way back in Dec 2022).
I called Lady Hammond clinic on Jan 30 and the receptionist was so kind, so understanding. She squeezed us in today (Jan 31).
The staff was friendly and welcoming right off the bat. Same with the veterinarian (sorry I didn't get your name!). He was so friendly and kind, and I could tell my dog wasn't stressed out at all after her shots.
Thank you so much for being understanding and getting us in ASAP. We really appreciate it!

This clinic will always have a special spot inside my heart, They taught me everything I know. Both veterinarians are absolutely amazing, there kindness and compassion holds no bounds. I've seen them perform miracles and save lives on multiple occasions, They've put their blood, sweat and tears into that clinic for many years, worked 7 days a week, 16 hours a day, sacrificed their sleep, their time with friends and family to make sure other people's pets are happy and healthy. It's a shame they sold to a corporate company. No company will ever provide the exceptional love and care like Dr. Hammid and Dr. Khan have for all these years. This clinic gave me my start in the veterinary field 8 years ago and have molded me into the professional I am today, and even though I have moved on from this chapter of my life, I just hope they know how much of an impact they've had on me and how much I appreciate everything they have done for me and my fur babies. I wish both veterinarians all the best in there future endeavors. Love - Kimberly <3
amazing experience... my dogs were treated well... the vet is very knowledgeable... staff are extremely friendly... and to top it all off THE BEST prices in Halifax... started coming here after dr. bail retired from st. Margaret's bay animal hospital. I am so happy I found this place.
great staff... great dr. and both my dog's love going the vet (never thought that can happen) both raven and rogue love the gentel staff and appreciate the time and care they take when dealing with them.
My dog, Bailey, suddenly became sick. I called the Lady Hammond and was able to bring him in immediately. He was quickly heen by Dr Khan and tests ordered. They put him on a IV. I had to bring him back the next day for an additional IV to help treat his gastroenteritis. When I picked him up at the end of the second day, he was 100% better and feeling good. He is better now and both Dr Khan & Dr Hammid did a great job with him. Dr Khan ever personally called me the next day to see how he was feeling. Great service. Much appreciated.
We have been bringing our wobbly cat (CH) Merlin to Lady Hammond Animal Hospital since we have adopted him. They have been great to deal with and very accommodating for our needy cat. Merlin unfortunately had to get a surgery after eating a piece of foam and taking care of incision on a wobbly cat is not an easy task. We were able to email in pictures and get in very quickly for follow up care. Through the whole process everything was clearly explained to us and Merlin is back to his happy rumbling self. The compassion and kindness shown by vets, vet techs, and other staff was amazing and made the whole ordeal easier to handle.
I have a young large breed dog and two cats. One is 14 and the other is 9 and we have been going to Lady Hammond for 3 years. Staff are always accommodating, empathetic and give clear information on diagnoses, after-care and preventative care. You can't beat their prices and care as far as city vets go. Highly recommend!
Thank goodness for our vet tech is all I have to say. Without her, I would've left the office.
Relief for a cats hematoma costs $580
Twice the vet put her bare thumb in my cats blood to apply pressure. With no urgency to wash her hands.Proceeded to touch the door/pens etc
After I said no to blood work 4 times I caved and said yes.
Her plan of action was to send us home with gabapentin and come back in 4 days. The hematoma on the ear had tripled over night.
I said I'd like to have him sedated today, and the fluid drained now.
Then she tried desperately to convince me to give a 16 year old cat a procedure without sedation. I know my cat.
Again after I said no 4-5 x to this I caved and said you're the vet, but I care about your staff and don't want them to get hurt.
The tech stopped the vet and held up her hand " do you want us to sedate your cat?"
I said yes. She said okay end of discussion let's do it.
He almost got two vet techs scratched in the administration of that needle.
They left me alone with him because he was mad, he projectile vomited when they left and went so completely floppy.
I tried cleaning the vom while maintaining his airways in a safe orientation of his head. I had to holler out into the hallway for someone to come in and check his heartbeat.
Also for the 2 hours I was there, all of the techs we're so loud and chatty in the back. It feels disrespectful to be going through a turbulent time with your pet and be able to hear every single word about what you're ordering for lunch. And I must say it was extremely caddy. They sounded like they were at the mall. My cat is very quiet type.
I'm happy that they're enjoying their job and each other and under other circumstances perhaps it wouldn't be bothersome. But in a medical standpoint it is annoying as a patient.
Dr. Points to the pile of vomit and says what's this? I said a pile of vomit. She made zero efforts to help me clean it up I had some in my hand on a paper towel and asked her where the garbage can was and she said she didn't know
Thrilled with the care our animals have received there. Several times they looked for ways to save us money. One of our elderly cats was treated for hypothyroidism for years at another vet where we were not happy. They completely reviewed the case, placed a call to a specialist and worked with us to find the best treatment for the cat. We took a cat there today for asthma, I can’t remember leaving a vets paying less than 100.00. The staff is pleasant, they seem to really love animals. I am very happy with this clinic.
I had a really bad experience at the SPCA veterinary hospital. It was not the doctors but it was the receptionist. She was extremely rude called me a bad pet owner and had no compassion whatsoever. The lady who was there before her was amazing but unfortunately had to leave. We were told about this vet clinic and how well they looked after her cat. The vets and the staff are amazing especially Rhonda she takes her job very seriously but always is there to help. The other vet techs are amazing and always help and greet with a pleasant smile and treat your fur baby with so much love and compassion. I highly recommend you taking your furry baby there. Best secession I ever made 💜🌺💜
Used to love this vet, but found out only when going in that the practice had been sold and the vets I was used to were no longer working here. My first appointment with this vet after the change, I called a few hours before my appointment I had booked weeks in advance to confirm the timing, and found out it hadn't even been recorded in the system. Additionally, I had never had issues with having my cat vaccinated or taking her in for other procedures, but this time they couldn't even manage to vaccinate her. I stepped out of the room as I am not good around needles, but after hearing my cat screaming, I went back in to find 4 veterinary assistants standing around and my cat hiding under a chair. I was surprised, and asked if they had accidentally hurt my cat as she had never reacted this way at the vet, and they replied saying they hadn't been able to do anything with her yet. The head of the clinic came into the room saying I had been accusing her veterinary assistants of hurting my cat, when I had only asked if it was a possibility after seeing a reaction so out of the ordinary, and having left the room with my cat seeming totally calm only to come back to her freaking out and surrounded by people. Everyone had an accusatory attitude towards ME for not sedating my cat prior to the appointment, saying many adult cats needed that for these types of procedures, but no one had ever informed me of a need for this before the day of the appointment. Additionally, my cat has never had any issues at this vet prior. We drove over an hour from NB for this appointment, thinking it would be the usual vets we were used to, and ended up with our time wasted. Not familiar enough with these new vets to say NOT to bring your pets here, but I certainly would have appreciated knowing prior to driving all the way down that the practice had been sold, and that my cat (being older than the last time we had visited) might require meds to calm her, as she'd never needed them before. Hugely disappointing, and now booking elsewhere in
I feel so lucky to be a client at this clinic! I have a sensitive & fearful dog with separation anxiety, and when I brought him in to be neutered they allowed me to comfort him until falling asleep. They also sent me home with calming medication at a prior visit to give him before bringing him in on his big day, and catered to every one of our special needs upon arrival. A situation that I expected to be very stressful for him (and me) ended up being comfortable, quick and easy. The whole crew at this clinic has gone above and beyond every time for me and my pup! The surgery itself was also performed very well and every aspect of it went smoothly. It’s a relief to be able to put my trust in a clinic with my beloved companion animal. Thank you so much for all your compassion and hard work!
